Our Farm Story: How Organified Started in Kerala
Our Farm Story: How Organified Started in Kerala
It started with turmeric. A packet from the supermarket that was too bright, too uniform. I read about lead chromate in turmeric, antibiotics in chicken, adulterated honey. I told my wife: I don’t trust the food we’re feeding our children.
Going Back to Roots
We started on family land in Kerala. Country chickens, pepper vines, turmeric, goats, stingless bee hives, gourami ponds. Just honest farming.
What We Grow and Raise
- Spice gardens: pepper, cardamom, turmeric
- Free-range country chickens and eggs
- Malabari goat milk and meat
- Stingless bee honey, Indian bee honey, wild forest honey
- Gourami fish from antibiotic-free ponds
- Coconut oil, palm jaggery, arrowroot
From Homestead to Online Store
Neighbours tasted the difference. Word spread. Demand grew. We built Organified — farm to doorstep, no middlemen.
Challenges
- Learning organic methods (lost 30% first turmeric crop)
- Competing on price (we can’t and won’t)
- Building trust online (one order at a time)
- Scaling without compromising (“out of stock” over shortcuts)
What Drives Us
We feed our own family this food. My children eat our eggs. My wife cooks with our coconut oil. Every product passes one test: would I give this to my kids?
